From January 2026 VAT rose to 16% and the 0%-tariff re-export loophole to other EAEU states was closed and strictly enforced. Volumes are volatile; the durable local demand centers on Korean SUVs and sedans (Santa Fe, Tucson, Sportage).

- The 0%-tariff re-export loophole is closed: cars imported under Kazakhstan’s WTO 0% tariff cannot be re-exported to other EAEU states (Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan), strictly enforced from Oct 2025. Commercial imports of cars under 3 years old now require WVTA/OTTC type approval.
