- Import duty scales steeply with age — approximately 15% for cars under 1 year old, 20% for 1-3 years, 30% for 3-7 years, and 40% for cars over 7 years old — plus 12% VAT on the customs value. Electric vehicles pay 0% duty but still owe the 12% VAT.

- No hard age limit on imports, but duty rises steeply with age (see pricing note) — an older car costs meaningfully more to bring in, not because it's barred, but because of the tax.
- Must meet the Euro 4 emissions standard; as of September 2025, importers no longer need separate environmental certification — a manufacturer/dealer letter or origin-country documentation showing Euro 4 compliance is enough.
- Uzbekistan is landlocked; cars typically travel via the Caucasus — sea to Poti or Batumi, Georgia, then overland through Azerbaijan and a Caspian Sea ferry to Aktau or Turkmenbashi, then rail — or via a rail route through Kazakhstan.
- The former one-vehicle-per-person-per-year cap on individual imports was lifted in June 2026, making it easier to import more than one car.
